The Hamad Tobacco Control Center aims at expanding its services to become a unified entity that includes training for clinicians to ensure the best quality of care, health awareness and promotion as well as scientific evidence-based research.
Located in Hamad Bin Khalifa Medical City, building 311, the center aims to treat approximately 1200 new patients each year, with each attending around six appointments. The center will see new innovative services added including, for the first time in Qatar, laser therapy to help people stop smoking.
In addition, Hamad’s Tobacco Control is a WHO Collaborating Center - the first in Qatar. WHO collaborating centers are institutions such as research institutes, parts of universities or academies, which are designated by the Director-General to carry out activities in support of the Organization's programs.
