The Medical Research Center (MRC) focuses on excellence in healthcare through research. MRC serves as the focal point of all research activities and management of all externally funded research. Research is an active, diligent and systematic process of inquiry in order to discover, interpret or revise facts or theories in a scientific manner, and plays a vital role in the development of a nation through improving health and quality of life. This requires a good infrastructure as well as budget. MRC supports researchers for the conduct, presentation and publication of their research conducted in Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) through the research budget allocated from the organization and through external funds. It also manages the grants provided by the Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) to support HMC’s biomedical research in Qatar. We are always ready to extend our support to research that has scientific value.
MRC is responsible for allocating funds from its annual budget to support limited, qualified, self-initiated research proposals, in order to promote clinical and basic research in HMC. The research fund is decided on the scientific merit of the proposals submitted to MRC and on the cost benefit analysis of the research. The research fund allocation is assured on the availability of funds and sanctioned according to the HMC financial policies.
